Client feedback

It’s a pleasure working with key members of the HR Trustees team: their experience and leadership means that they know how to get the job done, working in partnership with fellow trustees, employers and advisers to achieve the best result for members.
Mark Smith,
Partner at Taylor Wessing
I would recommend them to anyone - I have dealt with a number of other independent trustee firms and would rate PSIT as the best. We are very happy with Mark and the service we get.
Julia Morton,
Camellia plc
They have helped us save much more and created a cohesive plan to de-risk whilst building an integrated pension team.
Sally-Anne Borrill,
T-Systems
Ever increasing regulation has placed a heavy burden on trustees both in terms of time and the risk of non-compliance. HR Trustees has the experience and the resources to help trustees manage these burdens.
Mark Atkinson,
Partner at CMS Cameron McKenna
Excellent service - as expected and why PSIT was chosen.
Stuart Barker ,
Independent Occupational Pensions Consultant, RSPCA
I found the trustee training really beneficial, highly recommended. I am not a trustee, I represent the employer and I think it will be valuable for me in future, having a better understanding of the trustees' perspective.

Role

James is Head of Trusteeship at PS Independent Trustees (PSIT). He acts as a professional pension trustee for PSIT clients and is responsible for both our trustee services and ensuring our team remains up to date with technical matters.

Background & experience

James started his pensions career with Bacon & Woodrow in the specialist personal pension mis-selling loss calculation department. With Hewitt Associates he held both team leader and client relationship management roles. His responsibilities included pension scheme secretarial, outsourced pension management and administration client management for a range of defined benefit (DB) and defined contribution (DC) schemes. His largest client had over 5,000 members.

In 2007, James moved into trusteeship when he joined Aspen plc (now Capita Fiduciary). Through experience and technical expertise, he understands the risks faced by schemes of different sizes and complexities, and how to manage them effectively.

James regularly presents trustee training on a range of topics including scheme investments, actuarial valuations, trustee responsibilities and pension scheme governance.

James is a keen runner and raised over £3,500 for the Royal Marsden by completing the London Marathon. He is also pleased to have got a single figure golf handicap back after a number of years not playing.
