“The trustee training was a very well-paced overview which gave opportunity to explore ideas and question more deeply at key points.”
“Mike is a great secretary. He does a really good job for us.”
“When requesting information by email, I have noticed that there is 'out of hours activity' to answer me. I regard this as a stand out 'above and beyond' - impressed.”
“I found the trustee training really beneficial, highly recommended. I am not a trustee, I represent the employer and I think it will be valuable for me in future, having a better understanding of the trustees' perspective.”
“I enjoy working with PSIT and we have a very positive relationship. I was new to pensions and found them very helpful.”
“PSIT was chosen because of their knowledge of the subject and awareness of our particular schemes.”
Ian is a Client Director at PS Independent Trustees (PSIT), acting as professional trustee to both defined benefit (DB) and defined contribution (DC) clients. He is chair of many of those trustee boards and to the investment subcommittee for a large fund.
Having started as an actuarial student with Commercial Union (now part of Aviva), Ian moved into consultancy and held senior positions with Sedgwick Noble Lowndes and Mercer before leaving at the end of 2008. He has been responsible for the administration and management of pension schemes ranging from those with under 100 members to those operated by FTSE 250 companies.
Ian’s experience includes consulting with employers on all aspects of benefits strategy, but his principal focus was on regular support to trustees. He advises trustee boards, enabling them to expand their knowledge and building the confidence required to achieve a successful outcome to funding negotiations with the scheme sponsors.
Ian is a past President of the PMI and remains a volunteer adviser with TPAS, the Pensions Advisory Service. He has spent more than 50 years in the pensions world - and still loves it!
Ian stands out amongst the PSIT team - he is the only one of us to have made a speech in the House of Lords.
