Client feedback

Where HR Trustees are appointed to act in conjunction with an existing body of trustees, we have found that they are quickly able to fit in well and gain the trust and respect of their co-trustees.
Duncan Buchanan,
Partner at Hogan Lovells
Mike is a great secretary. He does a really good job for us.
Clare Cairns,
Campden BRI Group
I found the trustee training really beneficial, highly recommended. I am not a trustee, I represent the employer and I think it will be valuable for me in future, having a better understanding of the trustees' perspective.
Dave Strain,
Royal Yachting Association
They have helped us save much more and created a cohesive plan to de-risk whilst building an integrated pension team.
Sally-Anne Borrill,
T-Systems
PSIT offered the right support at very short notice, at reasonable cost, when we really needed it
Ian Edwards,
Chair of Trustee, Comet Pension Scheme
In any major corporate transaction, time is of the essence. HR Trustees’ pragmatic commercial approach helped us manage the pensions aspects of our group re-structure to ensure a positive outcome for all parties.
David Wilman,
CFO at Survitec Group

Role

Claire is the Divisional Director of HR Trustees Limited. She acts as chairman and trustee for a portfolio of ongoing schemes.

Background & experience

Claire started her career as a solicitor in private practice in the late 1980s. After initially specialising in company commercial work , she moved out of private practice and joined Hogg Robinson Financial Services to start her career in pensions. HR Trustees was established shortly after and Claire has been at the heart of it ever since.

Claire’s experience was initially in winding up schemes. She drew on her legal background to manage a number of litigation cases brought against previous advisers and trustees and dealt with a wide range of legal issues.

Claire’s focus is now on ongoing trustee appointments for both defined contribution (DC) and defined benefit (DB) schemes, acting either as sole trustee, as part of a trustee board or as Chair.

Claire’s experience is very broad, from funding negotiations through scheme mergers and investment strategy reviews to scheme closures.

Despite not being a regular cyclist, Claire survived her first cycling holiday in the not so flat Switzerland. She also took part in the ‘MoonWalk’ power walking challenge to raise money for Breast Cancer Research.
