Client feedback

Many organisations and people provide the services that clients need. In my opinion, the differentiator is in the way those services are provided and to that extent, Kathy embodies the qualities that I have come to value from PSITL. Kathy is organised but not fussy; diligent but not dogmatic; persistent without being pushy and compliant in a pragmatic way. Whilst she takes ownership and drives issues forward, Kathy is a team player who uses her and her colleagues experience to provide services to her trustee client whilst working closely with those like me representing the sponsoring employer. She works collaboratively with advisers but constructively challenges the scope of services, fees and service standards whenever necessary and makes sure that member needs are always taken into account. I enjoy working with her and trust that she will deliver what is required by the trustee and the members they represent in a manner satisfactory to the sponsoring employer.

Role

Alex deals mainly with ongoing schemes and his appointments include chair of trustees, member of a trustee board and as a sole trustee. He is a member of our management board.

Background & experience

Alex has extensive pensions industry experience, including more than 20 years as a professional trustee. He started at James Hay Pension Trustees looking after executive pension schemes (SSAS, FURBS etc), moving on to gain defined contribution (DC) experience with Winterthur Life.

Alex acts as a trustee for a range of ongoing schemes, predominantly defined benefit (DB) but also DC and hybrid arrangements. He has dealt with most circumstances and many industry sectors, including: regulatory bodies, hotel & leisure, universities & schools, defence contractors, media & technology, automotive & rail, health & social care, manufacturing, publishing, pharmaceuticals, textiles, housing associations and legal practitioners.

In his spare time, Alex suffers the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune on the golf course and still plays a bit of cricket on a Sunday, provided he can be sure of a good tea.
