“I would recommend them to anyone - I have dealt with a number of other independent trustee firms and would rate PSIT as the best. We are very happy with Mark and the service we get.”
“They are very proactive and full of new ideas, they've brought better scheduling and better minute sets.”
“I enjoy working with PSIT and we have a very positive relationship. I was new to pensions and found them very helpful.”
Simon joined PS Independent Trustees (PSIT) in November 2014 as a Scheme Manager to act as an independent trustee for PSIT clients, with a mix of ongoing and PPF related work. He helps develop new business, responding to proposals for professional trustee appointments and presenting to trustee boards.
Simon started his pensions career in the investment team of Hadrian Trustees Ltd, the corporate trustee to the Shipbuilding Industries Ltd Pension Scheme. He then moved on to work in the marketing and consultancy teams for CE Heath Ltd before joining HR Trustees Ltd to concentrate on acting as a professional pension trustee.
During his time at HR Trustees, Simon acted for numerous schemes in the role of independent trustee, secretary to the trustees or consultant. He either led or supported the trustee relationship for a wide variety of defined benefit (DB) and defined contribution (DC) schemes that were ongoing, closed or in wind up.
This experience led him to senior roles with Open Trustees Ltd and Pitmans Trustees Ltd (PTL), where he acted as a professional trustee on a wider variety of appointments and helped to develop the pension trustee businesses. Simon was instrumental in helping PTL attain AAF accreditation.
Simon’s experience enables him to understand the risks faced by pension schemes and how these can be managed effectively. He has worked closely with pension scheme sponsors and advisers, as well as the Pension Protection Fund (PPF) and the Pensions Regulator (tPR).
Simon has strong technical knowledge and the ability to develop good relationships with pension trustee boards, scheme members and the sponsor’s senior personnel. He is a Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute (FPMI), holds the PMI Award in Pensions Trusteeship and has undertaken the Pensions Regulator’s Trustee Toolkit online training.
