Client feedback

Excellent service - as expected and why PSIT was chosen.
Stuart Barker ,
Independent Occupational Pensions Consultant, RSPCA
They deliver above expectation when the scheme has a particular challenge.
Ian Edwards,
Their pragmatic approach helps with quick and easy decision making. Another approach might have made things more difficult.
Mark Assinder,
PSIT offered the right support at very short notice, at reasonable cost, when we really needed it
Ian Edwards,
Chair of Trustee, Comet Pension Scheme
Ian has added more value than we thought he would at the start… which shows it pays to go with someone who is doing the job of a professional trustee as their bread and butter.
Katherine Breading,
PSIT was chosen because of their knowledge of the subject and awareness of our particular schemes.
George Batho ,
Trustee, Lansing Linde

Mark joined PS Independent Trustees Limited (PSIT) in March 2009 from another independent pension trustee company. He is responsible for ongoing pension schemes and a small number in a PPF assessment period, and leads on schemes where PSIT acts as a sole trustee or as part of a wider pension trustee board.

Career history

Mark has been involved in independent pension trusteeship for an extensive period of time, starting with Barclays Corporate Trustees in the early nineties. He had previously worked in their pension administration team and Life & Pensions IFA business.

In 1998, Mark moved to Royal Exchange Trust Company (a trustee subsidiary of GRE and Axa), eventually moving to Capita Fiduciary in 2000. In each of these roles, he has either led or supported the trustee relationship for a wide variety of pension schemes of differing sizes, sponsor types and situations. He has first hand experience of changes in regulation over that time, together with the corresponding increase in pension trustee responsibility and liabilities.

Having had involvement with over 100 different schemes to date, Mark is well placed to understand the different needs and dynamics of pension schemes and the employers that support them, including the importance of getting a sound pension scheme governance structure in place.

He has extensive knowledge of the advisory market and is skilled at selecting the best team of advisers to ensure successful outcomes for a particular pension scheme.
