John is Chairman of PS Independent Trustees Limited (PSIT) and Chief Executive Officer of the Punter Southall Group’s actuarial consulting business. In addition to his role as a professional pension trustee, John separately acts as scheme actuary and investment adviser to a number of pension trustee boards. Combining these roles allows him to share the latest developments in pension scheme management with his clients.
John has considerable experience of managing board meetings at the highest level, both for pension schemes and companies. His role with PSIT is to undertake appointments for larger clients where his experience and skills are particularly well suited.
John started his actuarial and pensions career in 1980 with Sedgwick Employee Benefits. In 1984, he joined Elliot Associates, an employee benefits consultancy based in Windsor, and was the company’s Managing Director by the time he left in 1993 to set up BGJ & Co. Over the next ten years, under his leadership, BGJ thrived and grew substantially. Following the merger of BGJ and Punter Southall, he maintained significant client responsibilities within the Punter Southall Group.
