James is an Assistant Scheme Manager at PS Independent Trustees (PSIT). He provides high level and strategic support to PSIT’s Scheme Managers and Client Directors

Career history

James graduated from the University of Southampton in 2010 with a degree in mathematics with actuarial science. After a successful actuarial internship at Punter Southall in 2009, he joined their actuarial consultancy team as a student in 2010. During this time, he successfully sat several actuarial exams and completed the Pensions Regulator’s Trustee Toolkit.

In 2011, James went on a short secondment to the Pension Protection Fund (PPF) where he was involved in completing the yearly actuarial valuation for the organisation.

James has a gained a wealth of pensions experience, particularly in actuarial matters - such as the scheme funding process, actuarial factor reviews and setting transfer value bases - and member communications. In addition, he has been involved in providing pension scheme investment advice, assisting with scheme mergers and delivering trustee secretary services to clients.

James also has extensive experience of Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) cases, being a major part of the Punter Southall team that carried out Regulation 22 valuations in respect of pension schemes that have wound up and qualified for this assistance.
