Ian is a Scheme Manager at PS Independent Trustees Limited (PSIT) and is currently engaged as a professional pension trustee on a number of key client projects.
Ian has spent his entire career in the pensions world having started as an actuarial student with Commercial Union (now part of Aviva). He moved into consultancy and has held senior positions with Stewart Wrightson, Sedgwick Noble Lowndes and Mercer, leaving the latter at the end of 2008.
Ian has been responsible for the administration and management of pension schemes ranging from those with under 100 members to those operated by FTSE 250 companies. His experience includes advising employers on all aspects of benefits strategy, but his principal focus has always been on supporting pension scheme trustees. A key aspect of his consultancy role was to advise trustee boards, enabling them to expand their knowledge and build their confidence in order to achieve a successful outcome to funding negotiations with the scheme sponsors.
Ian was President of the Pensions Management Institute from 2001 to 2003 and has been a regular contributor to the pensions debate as a speaker or chair of industry conferences. He is also an adviser with TPAS, the Pensions Advisory Service.
