Mark is a long established pensions professional having spent over 30 years working with both Companies and Trustees on all aspects of pension scheme management. Mark has been a Senior Pensions Consultant with 3 of the UK’s Top Benefit Consultancy Firms for almost 16 years and then joined HR Trustees as a Trustee Director in 2000.
Mark has both considerable Trustee and pension consulting expertise. He is very comfortable with both the Chair of Trustees and a client management role and has worked with numerous Companies and Trustees on a diverse range of pension scheme issues.
Mark successfully fulfilled the pensions consulting role for a broad range of clients including Amnesty International, Thames Power, Rospa, Trans European Airways, Wang, GAN Insurance and Whyte & MacKay.
Mark also has considerable Defined Contribution experience and pioneered many of the now proven methodologies for the switching from DB to DC schemes. He led a team of pension professionals who were responsible for a substantial DB/DC project for Manganese Bronze, the black taxi firm, in the early 90’s.
Mark has been a Trustee Director at HR Trustees for 16 years and during that time has tendered successfully for numerous ongoing Trustee appointments. These include Harvey Nichols, DHL, Panasonic, The Royal British Legion, Transport Research Laboratory, Ferrero UK, Roadchef, Carl Zeiss Vision UK and Artemis. Mark attributes his success, in part, to placing a big priority on adopting a friendly and collaborative approach. He is also extremely pragmatic and is very good at getting things done in a cost effective manner. Mark has worked to good effect with the UK’s leading actuarial, consultancy and investment firms on numerous covenant reviews, funding negotiations, investment strategy reviews, corporate transactions, liability reduction strategies and scheme closures.
Mark graduated in 1983 with a Science/Maths degree.
